Motorola Noggin

Last July Motorola Solutions acquired Noggin, a global provider of cloud-based business continuity planning, operational resilience and critical event management (CEM) software.

Noggin’s software helps enterprises and critical infrastructure anticipate, prepare for and efficiently respond to incidents. The company’s integrated platform offers flexible workflows and checklists, built-in maps and situational awareness dashboards to help streamline incident management and strengthen business resilience. With a single, easy-to-use interface, Noggin’s software enables response teams to communicate directly, follow unified procedures and view the same operating picture during everyday incidents or emergencies.

Motorola Solutions has decided to retire its Ally Incident Management platform and replace it with Noggin Security Solution for several strategic reasons:

End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Policy

  • Motorola announced that Ally Incident Management will no longer be available for sale as of July 1, 2025. The platform will be supported only through the end of contracted terms. After that, renewals will require special approval.
  • Noggin has been explicitly identified as the successor platform to handle customers’ incident management and operational resilience needs going forward.

Enhanced Capabilities & Broader Scope

  • While Ally focused on basic incident tracking and security dispatch for private security firms, Noggin delivers a comprehensive Critical Event Management (CEM) and business continuity platform.
  • Noggin's cloud-native system includes checklists, mapped situational dashboards, workflow automation, risk planning, and real-time coordination—features beyond Ally’s functionality.

Strategic Fit within Motorola’s Ecosystem

  • Noggin aligns with Motorola’s broader vision of a connected safety ecosystem—integrating with video, radio, analytics, and resilience technologies to enable a unified incident response environment.
  • This reflects Motorola’s evolution from device-centric solutions (like radios) to a holistic platform-centric operating model.

Operational Resilience and Industry Recognition

  • Noggin has been recognized as a leader in Verdantix’s Green Quadrant for Operational Resilience Software due to its functionality, flexibility, and user-friendly design.
  • Motorola’s acquisition of Noggin (July 1, 2024) underscores their commitment to delivering advanced, enterprise-grade incident response software.
